May 5, 2017 The Call – #Trumpcare Trumpcare passed the House on Thursday by a narrow margin. Also known as the AHCA, the bill was hastily cobbled together and would throw millions of Americans off Medicaid and make health insurance unaffordable for millions more, especially those with pre-existing conditions. This is why all Democratic representatives and 20 Republican representatives voted against the bill. Ben Wikler has a great Twitter thread on how our first reaction to the passage of Trumpcare should strategically be outrage and blow-back in order to show the Senate, which must take up the bill next, the political cost of passing it. Your Action Call your member of the House. If he/she is a Republican and not on this list, let them know how disappointed you are in their vote and that you will remember it in 2018.
