The Call – No Gorsuch Vote until #TrumpRussia investigation completed
Tell your Senators that the Senate should not move forward on Judge Neil Gorsuch’s nomination to the Supreme Court until after the investigation of the Trump’s campaign potential collusion with the Russian attack on our election. After refusing to consider Judge Merrick Garland’s nomination for more than a year after Justice Scalia’s death, Republicans are now trying to rush Gorsuch’s confirmation through the Senate while the Trump administration remains under a dark cloud as to its legitimacy. At the House Intelligence Committee hearing Monday, FBI Director James Comey confirmed that the FBI has an on-going investigation into the Trump campaign’s coordination with Russian officials. Sen. Chuck Schumer [D-NY] and Sen. Elizabeth Warren [D-MA] have both called for a delay and Schumer stated on Tuesday that it was “unseemly to move forward so fast on confirming a Supreme Court justice with a lifetime appointment while this big big gray cloud of an FBI investigation hangs over the presidency.” It is becoming clear that Judge Gorsuch’s nomination is a strategic wedge issue. Democrats should explicitly tie the confirmation of Judge Gorsuch to the completion of a thorough investigation on Russia. The cloud of the on-going investigation into the campaign of the president who nominated him would only undermine Judge Gorsuch and diminish the integrity of the Supreme Court.
Call your Senators and tell them the Senate should not move forward on President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee until the after the FBI’s investigation has concluded.
“Hi. This is [NAME] and I’m a constituent in [ZIP]. I believe that the Senate should not move forward on President Trump’s nomination of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court until after the FBI determines whether his campaign colluded with Russia. I don’t think a lifetime appointment should be made by a president whose legitimacy remains under a dark cloud. Thanks and I greatly appreciate your time.”
