Daily Call To Action: March 1st, 2017

February 28, 2017 The Call Urge your members of Congress to publicly support an independent investigation into Russian interference in our election, the Trump campaign’s ties to Moscow and the President’s financial entanglements with Russia. Reports that Trump confidants had constant ongoing communications with Russian intelligence during the campaign, evidence of attempted blackmail against Paul Manafort by pro-Russia forces, the Trump administration’s failure to act on information of General Flynn’s compromised situation until it was publicly reported, and yesterday’s report on the credibility the FBI gave to the “Steele dossier”, require an independent investigation not led by Republican dominated Congressional committees. The acquiescence of Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) and Representative Devin Nunes (R-CA), the Chairs of the Senate and House Intelligence Committees respectively, to White House requests to knock down news reports of Russia ties, makes it clear that those committees cannot be trusted to independently investigate these matters.  Top Democrats and even several Republican members of the Senate Intel Committee, including Sen Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Sen Susan Collins (R-ME), have warned that the investigation must be free from any appearance of politics. While Tuesday’s State of the Union address was very scripted, it did allude to a plan to bring the US closer to Russia. The American people deserve answers they can trust on Trump/Russia. It is time to ensure an investigation free from partisan politics. Your Action Call your three members of Congress and request that they support an independent investigation into the President and his connections to Russia. Script “Hi. This is [NAME] and I’m a constituent in zip code [ZIP]. I’m calling because I think it’s crucial that we have an independent investigation into Russia’s role in the election and President Trump’s financial ties to Moscow. Has [Rep/Sen____] called for this yet?” [If Yes] “Great! Please let [Rep/Sen____] know I’d like to see a focused effort on this. I don’t trust Congress to deal with it in a non-partisan way. I appreciate it!” [If No] “Please let [Rep/Sen____] know I think it’s crucial we have an independent investigation because Congress is too partisan to properly do the job. I appreciate it!”
