July 23, 2017 The Call – #SaveACA #ProtectOurCare On Tuesday, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell plans to hold a vote on a motion to proceed with a healthcare bill that may be a straight repeal or may be a plan no one has yet seen. As Ben Wikler explains, if the Tuesday motion fails, Trumpcare is dead, but if it succeeds it will kick off 20 hours of debate and amendments to the mystery bill followed by a Senate vote and then a House vote which is almost certain to succeed. The bill could be law by the end of the week. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) explains the absurdity of being less than 48 hours from voting on a “Frankenstein monster” bill without knowing what the bill is, the costs, whether the Cruz amendment is in or out, whether there will be a CBO score, whether the bill meets parliamentarian rules or whether there are slush funds to buy votes. Trump and McConnell are pulling out all the stops to try to get the motion passed on Tuesday. We need as many calls as possible to stop this monster. Democrats should be urged to use every possible tactic to defeat the ACA repeal. Republicans need to be told that any plan that benefits the wealthy and leaves sick and vulnerable Americans without insurance is unacceptable. It is time for them to work with Democrats for a bipartisan fix to improve the ACA. Your Action Call both your senators and tell Democratic senators to use every tactic available to defeat the motion. Voting on massive reform to a sixth of our economy and affecting the lives of all Americans without hearings is absurd. Any bill that gives tax cuts to the wealthy and leaves sick and vulnerable Americans without insurance is wrong for the country. If you live in DC, West Virginia, Nevada or Alaska, please see Ben Wikler’s thread for additional actions. Talking Points

[Republican senators] Repeal alone or with a replacement anything like the ones we’ve seen is a tax cut for the wealthy and a potential death sentence for sick and vulnerable Americans. It is wrong for America and its values.
