July 11, 2017 The Call – #ProtectOurCare #KilltheBill Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has been negotiating through the recess and plans to unveil a revised version of Trumpcare as early as Thursday with a vote next week. The bill is expected to slash Medicaid and have a devastating impact on those with pre-existing conditions. If the Republicans cannot agree on a deal, Trump is urging them to repeal Obamacare now on a delayed basis to be replaced with an undetermined plan in the future. Any version of the Senate bill McConnell crafts will remain a tax cut for the wealthy at the expense of poor and middle income Americans, with the pain likely hidden until after the midterm elections. Democrats should be urged to use every tactic to defeat the BCRA. Republicans need to be told that any plan that benefits the wealthy and leaves sick and vulnerable Americans without insurance is unacceptable. A high volume of calls is needed to kill the AHCA and get on with the business of fixing Obamacare. If Trumpcare fails (or pending its effectiveness, even if it passes), the Administration plans to gut Obamacare to the extent possible through regulatory action. HHS is required to seek comments on these proposals through July 12. You can comment and force HHS to review your concerns at regulations.gov (takes 5 minutes). Your Action Call both your senators and tell Democratic senators to stop Senate business if necessary to block the bill. Tell Republican senators that any bill that gives tax cuts to the wealthy and leaves sick and vulnerable Americans without insurance is wrong for the country. Comment on the HHS request for comments on proposals that would gut Obamacare. Talking Points
