Daily Call To Action: January 25th, 2017

January 25, 2017 The Call Urge members of Congress to demand Trump disclose conflicts of interest with regard to DAPL. President Trump signed orders on Tuesday to allow construction to start again on the Dakota Access Pipeline. In disclosure forms from last May, Trump owned shares of both Energy Transfer Partners, which is building the pipeline and in Phillips 66, a parent company. He has claimed, without evidence, that he has sold his ETP shares, but has said nothing about his Phillips 66 shares. On Tuesday, White House press secretary Sean Spicer dodged questions about the President’s conflicts, falsely claiming that “by law, he can’t have conflicts.” Your Action Call your 3 members of Congress and ask them to demand that Trump disclose under oath any financial interest he has in DAPL, Energy Transfer Partners, Phillips 66 or any other company involved in building the pipeline and provide proof for any sales. Script “Hello. My name is [NAME and I’m a constituent in [STATE]. I oppose the Dakota Access Pipeline that President Trump cleared the way for yesterday.  There have been reports that the President owns shares in the company building the pipeline and its parent company. That seems like a major conflict to me. Sean Spicer claimed Trump doesn’t have those shares anymore but didn’t provide any proof. I don’t trust Spicer’s word on this at all.  President Trump ran on a platform of “draining the swamp” and getting rid of conflicts, but this looks corrupt. I would like [Sen/Rep____] to speak up and insist the president make a complete disclosure under oath of any interest he has connected to DAPL, and, if he has sold his interests, provide proof.”
