Daily Call To Action: January 19th, 2017

January 19, 2017 The Call Call the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations and Chairman Bob Corker (R-TN). Urge Chairman Corker to respect the vote of the Committee if they vote to reject Rex Tillerson’s nomination as Secretary of State. On Tuesday, Chairman Corker said he would bring Tillerson’s nomination to the full Senate regardless of the Committee’s recommendation. Ranking Member Ben Cardin (D-MD) has sharply criticized Chairman’s Corker’s stance. Your Action Call Chairman Bob Corker (R-TN) at (202) 224-3344 AND the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations at (202) 224-4651. Script For Tennessee Constituents – “Hello. My name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent in Tennessee. I’m calling to urge Chairman Corker to respect the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations’ recommendation on Secretary of State nominee Rex Tillerson. If the Committee withholds its recommendation, I ask that Chairman Corker refrain from bringing Tillerson’s nomination to a full Senate vote. The Committee on Foreign Relations has expertise on international affairs and has had the opportunity to question the nominee and carefully weigh his qualifications.  The determination of the Committee should be respected, and Chairman Corker should defer to their expertise rather than attempt to circumvent the Committee’s judgment. I appreciate your time.” For Non-Constituents – “Hello. My name is [NAME] and I’m calling to urge Chairman Corker to respect the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations’ recommendation on Secretary of State nominee Rex Tillerson. I appreciate your time.”
