February 12, 2017 The Call – Resolution of Inquiry: The 1st Step to Impeachment Urge your House member to support the Resolution of Inquiry introduced by Representative Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), which would require the DOJ to provide to the House all records related to investigations of Trump & his campaign pertaining to Russia, as well as conflicts of interest stemming from the President’s failure to divest. The Resolution was sent to the House Judiciary Committee, which must debate and act on it within 14 legislative days. If they fail to do so, the Resolution goes to the full House for debate and a vote. At its best, the Resolution would obtain the records which would be the basis for the first steps to impeachment. Thus far, House Republicans have rebuffed efforts to launch a serious inquiry into Russia ties or conflicts without any recorded vote; at a minimum, the Resolution of Inquiry forces a recorded vote by Republicans on the Judiciary Committee, and possibly the full House, on whether to look into the allegations. Your Action Call your Representative and urge him/her to support the Resolution of Inquiry introduced by Representative Nadler in the Judiciary Committee and, if the matter comes before it, in the full House. *Separate scripts depending on whether your Rep is on the Judiciary Committee or not. *List of Members on the House Judiciary Committee Script [For MOC who are on the Judiciary Committee] “Hi. My name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent in zip code [ZIP]. I am calling to urge [Rep.____] to support Representative Nadler’s Resolution of Inquiry in the Judiciary Committee. I’m very concerned about reports of inappropriate contacts between the President’s campaign team and Russia, as well as reports of numerous conflicts of interests arising out of the President’s businesses. I think it’s critical that Congress obtain the necessary information to allow it to perform its critical oversight functions. Please let [Rep.____] know that if he/she can’t support this inquiry, I won’t be able to support him. I greatly appreciate your time.” [For MOC NOT on the Judiciary Committee] “Hi.
