Daily Call To Action: December 22nd, 2017

December 21, 2017 The Call – #NetNeutrality #SaveNetNeutrality Despite overwhelming public sentiment against it, the FCC adopted a rule rolling back net neutrality last week. Rolling back net neutrality would allow internet service providers to charge more to access popular sites and degrade streaming services until someone pays them more money, while gutting consumer protections for internet users. The FCC process was deeply flawed, with millions of stolen identities used to submit bogus comments to the FCC supporting the end of net neutrality. Starting with New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, the attorney generals of 17 states (CA, DE, HI, IA, KY, MA, MD, ME, MS, NC, NY, OR, PA, VA, VT, WA)  have announced they will sue to rescind the rule. Every state Attorney General should be willing to join the suit to prevent the net neutrality rollback from going into effect. Your Action Call your state AG & thank them if they have joined NY in suing the FCC. If they haven’t, tell them you support net neutrality & want them to join the suit. Talking Points

  • This is [NAME] from [City, State].

  • [If your AG is suing the FCC] Thank you for standing up for [State] by suing the FCC to prevent the roll-back of net neutrality.

  • [If your AG is not suing the FCC] I am strongly opposed to the FCC’s roll-back of net neutrality and want [State] to join the suit to prevent it from taking effect.

  • The internet is the new public square and should be free and open.

  • Internet service providers should not have the ability to charge more to access popular sites and degrade service for streaming sites until someone pays them more money.

  • Rolling back net neutrality will hurt consumers in [State] by increasing costs and degrading service.
