December 21, 2017 The Call – #ProtectMueller #ProtectRosenstein #TrumpRussia #Patriots Senator Mark Warner (D-VA), the Ranking Member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, gave a chilling speech from the Senate floor Wednesday to warn that the growing right-wing attacks on Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation are a coordinated effort to the lay the groundwork to remove Mueller or cripple his investigation by removing senior DOJ officials. Fox News and the right wing press have mounted a furious campaign to impugn Mueller, Deputy AG Rosenstein and former FBI head Comey, and to try to discredit the investigation. Rosenstein, a life-long Republican appointed by Trump, defended Mueller’s investigation against withering attacks by Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee last week. Trump is reportedly ranting about Rosenstein, whom he now calls a Democrat, saying Rosenstein is a threat to his presidency. Firing Rosenstein and replacing him with a Trump loyalist would seriously endanger the Mueller investigation. Bipartisan bills have been introduced in the House and Senate to protect the Mueller investigation. It seems inevitable that Trump will move against Mueller and his investigation and we need to make sure Congress feels intense pressure to protect the investigation by speaking out in support of Mueller and Rosenstein and passing the bipartisan legislation.
