[UPDATE: Senator Grassley now supports releasing the transcripts! Thank you to all those who called!] The Call – #ReleaseTheTranscripts On Wednesday, two Senate Judiciary Committee members, Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), called on committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) to provide Robert Mueller with transcripts of the Committee’s interviews with key witnesses in the Russia probe, including Donald Trump Jr. A full-scale attempt by Republicans in Congress to discredit the Mueller investigation by attacking the DOJ, FBI and Christopher Steele is underway. Grassley is part of the GOP group trying to obstruct and discredit the investigation. On Wednesday, he called for the release of the Nunes memo and also suggested the Steele dossier itself was somehow a Russia-influenced scheme by Democrats to interfere with the election. Grassley has made a criminal referral of Christopher Steele to the DOJ suggesting Steele lied to the FBI. Shortly thereafter and over Grassley’s objections, Ranking Member Diane Feinstein (D-CA) released the testimony of Fusion GPS head Glenn Simpson, which debunks the GOP conspiracy theories. There is no rational reason for Grassley to refuse to turn over to Robert Mueller the transcripts of the testimony of Don Jr. and other key witnesses, except to obstruct the investigation. Your Action Call the Senate Judiciary Committee (202-224-5225) and also your Senator if he or she serves on the Committee. Tell them you want them to support releasing Don Jr. & others’ transcripts to Mueller. Talking Points
This is [NAME] from [CITY, STATE].
I urge the Judiciary Committee to turn over to Special Counsel Mueller the transcripts of the Committee’s interviews with Donald Trump Jr. and other key witnesses.
There is no security or other rational reason not to share these transcripts with the Mueller investigation.
